Located along China's southeastern
coast, to the west of the Taiwan Straits, the Province of Fujian
has a population of 35.35 million and covers a body of land encompassing
121,400 km2, a sea area of 136,000 km2, with a coastline that
extends for 3,324 km.

The province is divided into
9 administrative units centering respectively on 9 major cities,
namely, Fuzhou (the provincial capital), Xiamen, Zhangzhou, Quanzhou,
Sanming, Putian, Nanping, Longyen, and Ningde.
Since 1978, Fujian has sustained
a high rate of economic growth. In 2005, the provincial GDP rose
to RMB 656.007 billion, about 1.4 percentage points higher than
the national average. Fujian has attracted investments from over
100 countries, as well as leading multinational corporations
such as Wal-Mart, GE, BP, Exxon Mobile, TOYOTA, Mitsubishi, and
Maersk Logistics - to name but a few.
Fujian offers a market that is
extensive in its reach, strong in its purchasing power, and great
in terms of its economic potential. Convenient transportation
and well-developed logistics allow for the seamless integration
of the market into those of the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl
River Delta,
and allow the province to extend its influence to Taiwan, Hong
Kong, Macao, Southeast Asia as well as China's
central and western regions.
